Clinical study for a treatment for Alopecia Areata

The purpose of this clinical research study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of two investigational medications, in tablet form, or placebo for the treatment of alopecia areata.

You may be qualified to participate if you:

  • are between 18 and 75 years old;
  • have moderate to severe alopecia areata;
  • have been experiencing fixed hair loss for 7 years or less;
  • are willing to use two forms of effective contraception together with their partner(s) for the duration of the study (if of childbearing potential and at risk of pregnancy); and
  • are able to commit to regular study visits (up to 13 visits, 2-4 weeks apart) involving lab tests, questionnaires and other study procedures for the duration of the study (up to 37 weeks).

For participants, all investigational medication (or inactive placebo), study-related tests and study doctor’s visits will be provided at no cost for the duration of the study. Participation is voluntary and you may withdraw at anytime.  Participants may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses for study visits.

This clinical trial is being conducted at five dermatology clinics in Australia.
