New AAAF Guide: Fundraise With Cans & Bottles — Turn Your Recycling Into Support

AAAF is excited to launch our updated Fundraise with Cans & Bottles guide — a simple, practical way for clubs, schools, and families across Australia to raise funds while helping the environment.

Every eligible drink container earns 10¢, and when donated, these funds go directly toward supporting Australians living with Alopecia Areata. That includes programs like wig grants, peer support, research awareness, and community events.

How It Works

The guide provides step-by-step instructions for:

  • Setting up a club or team collection drive
  • Choosing a Recycling Coordinator
  • Using collection bins safely
  • Tracking your milestones
  • Donating through your state or territory’s container scheme

Each state and territory now has quick links to the correct app, refund point, and fundraising toolkit, making it easier than ever to donate your refunds to AAAF.

Why It Matters

A single weekend drive can raise enough to fund a wig for a child starting school, or provide vital support for someone newly diagnosed.
When communities recycle together, every can and bottle becomes more than a refund — it becomes a message of inclusion and visibility.
Every 10¢ counts, and every container tells someone they’re not alone.

Get Involved

Your club or group can start in just a few steps:

  1. Nominate your Recycling Coordinator

  2. Choose your collection week or ongoing setup

  3. Display the guide and your state’s Quick Links

  4. Share your progress using #RecycleforAAAF
