Welcome Mairead our new support ambassador

Welcome Mairead our new support ambassador

Mairead was diagnosed with AA at 13 years old in primary school, which progressed to AU by high school, where Mairead ended up shaving the last of her hair off at 17 years old.

Mairead is joining the AAAF committee in 2022 after attending the 2021 AAAF kids camp and realising how much awareness and support she can spread by sharing her story.

Mairead is passionate about mental health and wellbeing, currently working as a disability support worker and studying Psychological Science at Uni. Mairead believes that alopecia can be your biggest strength although she understands the overwhelming physical and emotional effects of hair loss.   Mairead is a proud Alopecian and eager to transcend what society deems feminine or ’normal’ and be her true self unapologetically. Mairead would love to get to know more people with alopecia!   You can reach Mairead at mairead@aaaf.org.au
