A short checklist and guide to raise funds for AAAF while you recycle
How it works
Every 100 containers = $10 to fund wigs, peer support, and awareness for Australians with Alopecia Areata. It’s simple, visible, and teaches kids real-world recycling.

Getting your club or community involved
For kids, parents, and coaches:
Start by getting permission from your club committee and nominating someone to act as your recycling coordinator. Decide whether you want a long-term setup with collection bins at the club or a short-term drive lasting one to two weeks.
Place clearly labelled bins in safe, visible areas such as the canteen, change rooms, or near exits. Make an even bigger impact by sharing AAAF’s refund number so families
can easily donate their containers too! Decide who will be responsible for redeeming the containers (this could be a team manager, parent volunteer, or committee member) and how often collections will take place. Keep a simple tally for each team and celebrate your milestones (like reaching 5,000 containers!).
A single weekend drive can fund a wig for a child starting school with confidence, or connect someone newly diagnosed with a support group that understands. When clubs, schools, and families recycle together, every can and bottle becomes more than just a refund — it becomes a message of visibility and inclusion for people living with Alopecia Areata.

To donate your containers in NSW, use the Return and Earn program. How to Donate:
1. Download the Return and Earn app.
2. In the app, go to “Donate” and select Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation (AAAF).
3. Scan your barcode at a Return and Earn machine when returning containers.
4. Your 10¢ refunds will go directly to AAAF.

2. Create an account and open the “Charities” section.

5. Drop off your containers and scan your barcode to donate your refund to AAAF.
