Lucas – Sponsorship Story
In March, before my last milestone update, my hair started falling out again. It all happened pretty quickly and by the end of May I had lost most of the hair on my head. I made the big decision to shave it all off to a zero before my big competition. My trampoline friends were all surprised that I shaved it all off.
I only shaved it once a week for the next 2 weeks until it completely stopped growing and I haven’t shaved it now for about 5 weeks. In the last week of school for term 2 I lost the last few hairs of my right eyebrow so I now have no eyebrows and my eyelashes are patchy.
I’m feeling pretty good about how I look. I still wear a hat, hood or beanie everywhere but I feel much better about my hair now that its all gone rather than the patchy way its been growing for the last 18 months. There has only been one time it was a problem that I was wearing a hat and it was when we went out for dinner with my grandparents. A man from the restaurant asked me to remove my hat and my mum had to explain why I was wearing a hat. He was pretty good about it but we now have a backup plan whenever we go out for dinner.
The sponsorship has really helped me towards my trampolining goals.
On Saturday 31st May 2025 I competed at the NSW Gymnastics State Championships. I placed 2nd on Double Mini Trampoline in the Level 6 National Stream. In the Junior Synchronised Trampoline event, my partner and I placed 4th and I placed 3rd on Individual Trampoline in the Under 17 International Stream. I also qualified for the NSW State team to compete at Nationals on the Gold Coast in July which was the main goal for the competition.
On Thursday 10th July 2025 we travelled to the Gold Coast where I have been competing in the Australian Gymnastics Championships (Nationals). These are the results so far:
- In the Junior Synchronised Trampoline Event, my partner and I placed 13th in Australia.
- In the Under 17 Individual Trampoline, I qualified for the finals in 8th place. In the finals I finished in 6th place. I am ranked 6th in Australia.
On Wednesday 16th July 2025 I will compete in the Level 6 Double Mini Trampoline.
