Pauline Stacey – Sponsorship Story

I am writing to provide an update on my progress with Tai Chi, made possible through the generous sponsorship from the AAAF since July 2024.
The AAAF sponsorship has been truly transformative for my Tai Chi journey. By covering the class fees, this program has given me access to regular sessions that I would not have been able to afford otherwise. This financial support has removed a significant barrier and allowed me to fully commit to this practice without the stress of managing costs.
Over the past months, I have experienced remarkable improvements in multiple aspects of my life. My mental health has significantly improved through the meditative and mindful nature of Tai Chi. The flowing movements and focused breathing have become an essential tool for managing stress and anxiety. I have noticed substantial gains in my physical wellbeing as well, with better balance and flexibility that carry over into my daily activities.
Each class brings the opportunity to learn new moves and forms, which keeps me engaged and motivated. The progression from basic movements to more complex sequences has given me a real sense of achievement. Beyond the physical practice, one of the most valuable aspects has been the social connection. I have made wonderful new friends in my classes creating a supportive community where we encourage each other and share in the joy of learning together.
Perhaps most importantly, this experience has boosted my personal confidence tremendously. Mastering new techniques and seeing my own progress has empowered me in ways that extend far beyond the class itself.
I have also taken the opportunity to raise awareness about Alopecia Areata with my classmates. I have had meaningful conversations with my new friends at the night class, explaining what Alopecia Areata is and how the AAAF is supporting me through this sponsorship program. They have been incredibly supportive and interested to learn more about the condition and the work that AAAF does. This has helped me feel more comfortable discussing my experience with Alopecia Areata and has created greater understanding within my Tai Chi community.
I am deeply grateful to the AAAF for this opportunity, which continues to enrich my life in so many ways
