Alex – Sponsorship Story

This term has been super exciting for me as a cello player! Our orchestra recently performed at the Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival and we got a silver medal. I was so proud of everyone. Performing live is always such a buzz — your heart’s racing, the lights are on, and you just go for it. It was awesome being around heaps of other schools and kids who love music too. It felt like we were all part of one big music family. Plus, we got a day off school, which is always a bonus!
We also played at our school’s Winter Strings Festival. That one’s a bit more chill than QCMF. It’s not as scary, and it’s fun playing for people you know like your friends and neighbours. Everyone claps and cheers and it makes you feel really good inside.

All these performances in Term 3 make the early morning rehearsals all year worth it, though sometimes it’s hard to drag myself out of bed. This is what it’s all for.
Something new for me this term is joining the high school orchestra — even though I’m still in grade 6! I’m getting ready for next year and I’m really looking forward to the challenge. The music is harder, but I like pushing myself and learning new pieces.

I want to say a huge thank you to AAAF for sponsoring my cello tuition. Without their help, I wouldn’t be able to be part of all these amazing experiences. Being in the orchestra makes me feel like I belong, and I’ve made so many friends through music. It’s honestly the best part of school for me (well, apart from Maths!).
